Beginner's Guide to Operating an Excavator
1. Safety First
-
Wear PPE: Always wear personal protective equipment (helmet, gloves, steel-toe boots).
-
Inspect the machine: Check for leaks, damaged parts, and fluid levels before starting.
-
Clear the area: Ensure no people or obstacles are nearby.
2. Familiarize Yourself with the Controls
-
Left joystick: Controls the boom (up/down) and swing (left/right).

Foot pedals: Control track movement (forward/backward for tracked excavators).
3. Starting the Excavator
-
Enter safely: Use the handrails and three-point contact (two hands, one foot).
